William Bruce Autry departed this world for his heavenly home just as dawn was breaking on Sunday morning, February 11, 2018, at the age of 92. He was a United States Army Veteran serving his country during World War II.

Bruce is preceded in death by his father, Reverend Perry G. Autry and mother, Hettie Honeycutt Autry; stepmother, Louise McLamb Autry; his first wife, Alma Doris Strickland Autry; second wife, Joyce Kilmer Jackson Autry. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Hilbourne Hoover Autry, James Calton (J.C.) Autry, and Berline Autry Hubbard.

He is survived by his sons, William Douglas Autry & wife, Kathy, Danny Bruce Autry and David Darrell Autry (wife, Julie deceased); a daughter, Wanda Autry Dail & husband, James; and a stepdaughter, Debora Bunce Hales & husband, Carson (with whom he resided at his home for many years); three grandchildren, Derek Autry, J.R. Dail & wife, Charlie, and Zachary Dail & girlfriend, Melynda McLaurin; and one great grandchild, Bennett Harrison Dail.

Bruce was always kind to everyone and ever humble, even as he walked through the valley of the shadow of death. He valued God's gifts throughout his life and especially enjoyed his family, church, friends, gospel singings, gardening, and working in his yard. Most of all, he lived his life in service to the Lord, setting a positive example for his children and others whose paths of life crossed with his. He would often visit shut-ins to provide encouragement and sing a hymn.

Visitation with family and friends will occur on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 1:30pm to 3:00pm at Magnolia Baptist Church, 1021 Magnolia Church Road, Stedman. The funeral will follow at 3:00pm at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy Honeycutt, Rev. Lynn McLaurin and Pastor Travis Hoke. Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Grove PFWB Church Cemetery, 6535 Oak Grove Church Road in Stedman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Magnolia Baptist Church.
