Emmett Wayne Beard, Sr.

Emmett Wayne Beard Sr., 70 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Mr. Beard lived his entire life in Eastover, North Carolina on the family farm that he dearly loved. He graduated from Central High School in 1964 and Methodist University in 1968. Mr. Beard taught for 30 years in the Cumberland County School system with a majority of those years at Armstrong Junior High School in Eastover. He had a passion for being outdoors whether farming or hunting and loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Reagan. Mr. Beard was preceded in death by his father William Carroll Beard, Sr. and his mother Margaret Taylor Beard. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mrs. Wanda Dawson Beard; his son, Emmett Wayne Beard, Jr.; daughter, Wanda Jenae Beard Notto and her husband, Thomas Notto and granddaughter, Reagan Aulbria Beard. He is also survived by his brother, Mr. William Carroll Beard, Jr.; his sister, Mrs. Margaret Ann Buffaloe and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Wayne was a lifelong member, deacon and Sunday school teacher of Lebanon Baptist Church and was currently a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Wayne was very active in the community including the Cumberland County Crown Board, Cumberland County Livestock Association, and the Cumberland County Farm Advisory Board.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Salem United Methodist Church, officiating will be Rev. David Beck. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:45pm Saturday at the church before the service.

Mr. Beard will be greatly missed by the Eastover community, many longtime friends and especially by his family.
